About The Brand
Yahoo launched the Yahoo Cricket app in India alongside the 2019 Cricket World Cup. The Yahoo Cricket app provided real time cricket updates with daily news and gamified polls to engage users. Coming from Yahoo there was a significant brand name behind the product and we were tasked with amplifying the launch quickly.
We decided to use Yahoo’s content itself to drive engagement on the campaign and get app installs. There were a bunch of attention-drawing articles and some controversies of the World Cup as well which were reported on the app. We used these for the promotions as they garnered maximum user engagement while positioning Yahoo as the app that has inside stories.
We also created some original content like videos, images, memes and contests to further drive engagement on the campaign.
We zeroed in on 2 major influencer archetypes to work with on the campaign – cricket lovers and cricket related fan pages of teams as well as sports persons. We also collaborated with some major Cricket influencers like Sudhir Gautam to amplify the campaign.
